What Type Of A Traveler Are You?

Traveling is the best way to unwind. Away from the materialistic possessions and pressures that life showers on us, traveling offers an opportunity to indulge in some soul searching. Barring a few lazy souls for whom sleeping and binge-watching is the ultimate guide to unwind, traveling is every person's first choice. What goes inside your bag when you pack them for a trip? Are you a budget traveler or prefer being at the pointy end? Does the idea of a journey and exploring the land excite you or do you prefer comfort over rustic landscape? Read on and find out more about the type of traveler you are.

1. The Adventurous Argonauts

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller

If you are a kind of a traveler who is always on the high, the term 'adventure' sets you rolling. Be it climbing mountains or daring the beastly waves or exploring the uninhibited lands yet to be explored by humankind, you'll hop on your bed till it breaks down. The mention of thrill, danger and the possibility of the unknown often overshadows your power of reasoning (that's the harsh reality, my friend. Otherwise, why would you be willing to tie your ankles to a rubber band and leap off a bridge in the name of bungee jumping?) but hey! you are the one to enjoy life the most (given that your optimism helps you defy all scientific laws and save you from deathly situations). Working on your impulse, you are no less than a daredevil (here's your treat/saving grace!)

2. The Great Planner

"A goal without a plan is just a wish." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Practical, organized and great researchers, our next set of travelers are the ones who have a defined goal and they plan their trips with great precision. Every single second of their day is planned out (we mean it when we say "every"), right from the hot-spots that they want to visit, to the route that they wish to take, to the colors of their outfits that need to be coordinated with those of the architectural marvels that they wish to get themselves clicked at. They can often be spotted with a thick planner that has their plans chalked out.

Psst, it's easy to freak them out. All you need to do is throw in some unexpected turns and they will find themselves lost. (Or, you can hide their planner. Hehe!)

3. The Escapist Explorer

"We travel not to escape life but, for life not to escape us." – Anonymous

When life showers lemons, our escapists take them head on (quite literally; some even get knocked down by the amount of lemons that fall from above) and slowly drag their broken souls to the woods. Going with the flow and turning into nomads, taking refuge in the deepest of places from the 'delightful' delusions, they are up for some soul-searching. At times, they are oblivious to where they are heading. For them, escaping is the only goal.

4. The Occasional Backpacker

"If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it's lethal." - Paulo Coehlo

'Travel is not everything' is what they believe in. Unlike travel junkies who get high on the mention of the word 'travel', our Occasional Backpackers are relaxed beings (they would frown on facing the harsh reality and being termed 'lazy asses'; therefore, we've chosen a rather anodyne term to describe them). They face the warmth of the sun, silence of the sea and bask in nature's lap only when personal or professional work requires their presence (or when glaring family members at home or boss at work send shivers down the spine).

5. The Budget Travelers

"A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went." - Dave Ramsey

The budget traveler will leap on things that read 'affordable'; the aim of their trip remains to enjoy the most while shelling out least amount of money, which may translate into having no plan as to how to go about with the trip. But the travelers find ways of enjoying themselves with as many free or inexpensive activities as they can discover (here's one of their secrets: a game of beg, borrow or steal takes them miles; literally).

6. Pilgrim's Process

"Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray." -Rumi

Religious or otherwise, these set of travelers are the visitors of shrines and followers of trails leading to self-discovery. Away from the material possessions of the world and in search of their goal, they carry an aura of their own. Do not bracket them to the types who are religious worshippers. What we mean is, a pilgrimage has varied meanings so, a worshipper of ideas or architectures build as a result of fantasy is most welcome. In other words, if you are dancing with Mickey and Minnie in Disney World or chasing witches and wizards down the alley in Hogwarts or marvelling at the magnificance of the churches in Italy with Robert Langdon, you are one of a kind.
